We, the undersigned, call on the Government of Yukon to establish a practical route for certified plug-in solar as it addresses the current pause in micro-generation intake.
Create a clear legal path for certified systems up to 1200W on a standard 120V outlet, for on-site use without requiring net metering. Qualifying systems should need no permit or electrician for the plug-in connection and should shut off automatically when grid power fails.
Work with electrical authorities and utilities to publish the conditions for this route on Yukon's electricity systems. Explain how these small systems will be treated during the pause, what changes are needed to allow them and the timetable for those changes.
Give households the choice to use solar when sunlight and local conditions allow. Address the seasonal needs of Yukon's electricity systems while creating a clear path for residents to participate.
