The petition

We, the undersigned, call on the Government of the Northwest Territories to make certified plug-in solar a practical choice under rules that reflect each community's electricity system.

Create a clear legal path for certified systems up to 1200W on a standard 120V outlet, for on-site use without requiring net metering. Qualifying systems should need no permit or electrician for the plug-in connection and should shut off automatically when grid power fails.

Work with electrical authorities and the utility serving each community to publish a simple connection process. Show how community capacity limits apply to these systems and what changes are needed where limits prevent access.

Give households clear information about how their actual electricity charges and subsidies affect savings. Residents should be able to see both the route to participation and the likely benefit for their own home.
